Artist's
Statement
"Once
I choose a subject to photograph, I commit myself to go beyond simply
recording an image...I want
to reflect its soul. The brilliance and saturation of the colors in
my photographs are the result of choosing the subject in the most
ideal light. The type of film, lens choice, exposure and composition
are absolutely critical. Ultimately and without any computer enhancement
or adulteration, the beauty and essence of my subject is captured
on film...the soul is seen. I was born and raised in Venice, Italy
and my interest in photography started when I was a teenager. Now,
40 years later, the European scene and its magnificence has again
peaked my creative interest. I have completed photographic expeditions
to the Czech Republic, Portugal, France and Italy, as well as Cuba,
Mexico, Morocco and England. Additional expeditions to other countries
are now being planned. Endless hours waiting for the right conditions
and an undeniable quest to capture the perfect image continue to be
my hallmark. My photography, often times thought to be painting, will
be my legacy." "I use a medium format Hasselblad camera
and lenses from 30mm to 280mm. I use Kodak and Agfa negative film.
I print on Fuji archival paper for a lasting finish. The limited edition
photographs are mounted and matted with acid free materials."
